When installing solar panels or a heat pump, one question often comes up: “How much will I actually save?”

To answer it accurately, Project Zero and VPV Sunsolutions set up a real-life test installation equipped with a Smappee measurement and control module. The goal: gather reliable, everyday data to assess the true impact of the equipment and the value of smart energy management.

Project details

The test setup includes:

  • 6 Dualsun Spring hybrid panels
  • 6 Eurener 415 Wp photovoltaic panels
  • Full monitoring and control via Smappee

This configuration makes it possible to measure PV production, hot water generation through hybrid panels, and the overall impact on the home’s energy consumption.

Site specifics

The tests were conducted in an actual residential environment with uncontrolled conditions: changing weather, variable usage, heating cycles… This approach delivers raw, realistic data that reflects daily life rather than theoretical simulations — a solid base for understanding real-world system performance.

Our response

With this setup, VPV Sunsolutions and Project Zero now have reliable data that allows them to:

  • Quantify savings achieved with a solar installation + heat pump
  • Evaluate how Smappee’s smart control improves self-consumption
  • Define fair, transparent pricing based on measured performance
  • Provide tailored recommendations for each customer’s actual energy use

The choice of Dualsun Spring technology — hybrid and high-performing — strengthens the approach: power generation, hot water production, and panel cooling for maximised output.

With Smappee, every kWh produced can be tracked, managed, and optimised — an essential step for maximising savings and reducing energy bills over the long term.
