Solar Transition in Europe: Ecostal Group Accelerates with Solutions Combining Engineering, Quality and Flexibility

  • CategoryAbout the Group

The European large-scale photovoltaic market is experiencing sustained growth, driven by decarbonisation targets, national regulatory frameworks and increasing corporate demand for self-consumption. But this dynamic also highlights underlying tensions: pressure on the supply of mounting structures, the arrival of low-cost players, and ever-higher technical requirements.

In this context, Ecostal Group, a European solar energy transition player founded in 2008 in Belgium, is deploying a strategy that combines the strength of its B2B distribution network with the technical expertise of its subsidiary SigueSol.

A European group with a dual engine: distribution and solar engineering

Present in Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain, Ecostal Group was built on one key insight: energy professionals need a reliable partner, not just a distributor. The group operates on two complementary pillars.

The first is B2B distribution, with permanently available stock and responsive technical support for installers, developers and utilities.

The second focuses on solar structures and integrated services through SigueSol, which designs and installs tailor-made solutions for C&I, agrivoltaic and utility-scale projects.

A mounting structures market in full transformation

Le segment des structures de montage photovoltaïques traverse une période charnière. Les modules sont plus grands et plus lourds, les normes de The photovoltaic mounting structures segment is going through a pivotal period. Modules are larger and heavier, wind and snow resistance standards are tightening, and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. As a result, structures must be rethought in terms of robustness, materials and design.

At the same time, the arrival of new players, particularly from Asia, with aggressive pricing policies, has created market turbulence. While price competition persists, feedback from the field is clear: unfamiliarity with local standards and inconsistent product quality. Some of these players have already exited the market, while others are trying to adapt.

For Angelo Nogara, Country Manager Italy at SigueSol: “Success in this segment now depends on quality, reliability and long-term performance. Clients who focus solely on price make a mistake that can prove costly over the system’s lifetime.”

Solar carports: European regulation accelerates demand

The solar carport and canopy segment is experiencing strong momentum, driven by companies looking to leverage their car parks as energy infrastructure, integrate electric vehicle charging and meet their ESG targets.

France stands out with the APER law (2023), one of the most advanced regulatory frameworks in Europe. Outdoor car parks exceeding 1,500 m² will be required to cover at least 50% of their surface with solar canopies, from July 2026 for the largest (> 10,000 m²) and July 2028 for the rest, or face penalties of up to €40,000 per year. This model is transforming solar canopies into an infrastructure standard.

Energy Hub and OneMega: a modular offering for underserved projects

To address a segment often overlooked by market players,  smaller-scale projects (under 1 MW), Ecostal Group has developed two turnkey modular solutions through SigueSol.

Energy Hub is an integrated solar carport combining PV modules, battery storage, electric vehicle charging stations and an energy management system (EMS) in a single concept. Suited for C&I sites, public and private car parks, commercial zones, hospitals, service stations and mobility hubs, it delivers a coherent and high-performing energy solution that is quick to install.

OneMega targets ground-mounted projects under 1 MW with pre-defined, optimised configurations, including the supply of all equipment and full project support, with options for storage and smart energy management.

European quality and flexibility: Ecostal Group’s positioning

Ecostal Group’s strategy through SigueSol rests on three pillars: innovation, quality and flexibility. The company combines Made in Europe production with carefully selected European partners to ensure availability, choice and consistent quality.

Flexibility is a key differentiator. SigueSol operates at every level: supply of structures only, installation, or complete turnkey projects. This agility enables coverage of projects ranging from 100 kW to utility scale, across varied configurations, including the most complex ones (uneven terrain, regulatory constraints, bespoke structures).

SigueSol is also expanding its catalogue of integrated offers and services to include large-scale tracker and storage solutions in hybrid and stand-alone modes, incorporating innovations in monitoring and control to jointly optimise energy production and yields.

Outlook: quality and performance at the heart of purchasing decisions

In a market where mounting structure costs represent up to 25% of the total CAPEX of a ground-mounted PV plant, the choice of structural partner is decisive. Rising raw material prices (steel, aluminium), tightening technical standards and supply chain uncertainty reinforce the importance of working with reliable, experienced players.

Ecostal Group intends to continue positioning itself as a strategic and technical partner for solar energy professionals across Europe, combining the strength of its distribution network with SigueSol’s engineering expertise in structures.

Ecostal Group will be represented by SigueSol at the InterSolar Europe 2026 trade fair in Munich. An opportunity to discover our solutions and discuss your projects with our teams.
